Many manufacturers throughout the world now sell Viagra, the brand name for the medication sildenafil, as a generic drug. Pfizer Inc.'s Viagra was the first major erectile dysfunction (ED) treatment on the market, and Sildenafil is virtually the same medication.
Generic Viagra has only been available for a short time. Although Pfizer's patent on the popular ED drug expired in 2020, the company began producing and marketing generic sildenafil in 2017. When additional companies were allowed to lawfully offer their sildenafil tablets in 2020, consumer alternatives immediately grew.
Who makes generic Viagra?
Sildenafil's erectile dysfunction benefits were discovered by accident by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer.
The drug was being tested to treat high blood pressure and angina, which is chest pain caused by heart problems. They discovered that the drug was particularly successful at inducing erections. Viagra was approved by the Food and Medicine Administration in 1998, making it the first oral drug exclusively prescribed for ED.
Through a company called Greenstone, Pfizer was also the first to develop generic Viagra. Sildenafil tablets are also produced by other companies around the world. Teva Pharmaceuticals, Aurobindo, Cambia, Mylan, Bristol Labs, and others are among them.
How generic Viagra is used
Sildenafil is available in a variety of doses as a tablet. Generic Viagra comes in 20-milligram (mg), 25-milligram (mg), 50-milligram (mg), and 100-milligram (mg) tablets, just like Viagra. The 50-mg dose is the most common, while some doctors begin with a 25-mg dose to test whether it is enough.
Sildenafil is used to treat ED on an as-needed basis, ideally an hour before sexual activity. It may, however, be effective as early as 30 minutes before intercourse and as late as 3 or 4 hours afterward.
Sildenafil's effects usually wear off within 4 hours. It is suggested that you take sildenafil only once a day.
Sildenafil for PH is available in 5-mg and 20-mg pills as well as a liquid. It's taken three times a day on average.
Interactions to be aware of
Generic Viagra, like any powerful medication, can cause dangerous interactions with other medications.
If you use a nitrate drug for angina or high blood pressure, you should avoid sildenafil.
If you take other blood pressure medications, such as diuretics, ACE inhibitors, or calcium channel blockers, you may experience a severe reduction in blood pressure.
Take with caution if you're taking any other ED drugs.
It's also a good idea to avoid using sildenafil with any other ED drugs. The combination can cause fainting, dizziness, and, in rare situations, a heart attack by lowering blood pressure.
When used with alcohol, blood pressure can be affected.
When alcohol and sildenafil are combined, blood pressure can drop too low. If you're taking sildenafil, you should stay away from alcohol.
Grapefruit can prolong the effects of sildenafil and raise the risk of side effects.
Grapefruit and grapefruit juice are the only real dietary interactions that can occur with generic Viagra. These products can cause your body's sildenafil levels to rise.
Other alternatives for treatment
There are a variety of ED therapies available. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, in addition to drugs or other medical interventions, can have an impact on the efficacy of your ED treatment.
The food that was delivered
Generic Viagra, also known as sildenafil citrate, is a drug that works in the same way as buy cheap generic Viagra but at a lesser price.
While Pfizer continues to produce the "little blue pill," other firms across the world including in the United States produce sildenafil, which may have a different appearance but is still an effective erectile dysfunction medication.
